Luke 24:44-47 (NASB) 44 Now He said to them, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ----------------------- a "capstone passage": ...God's Word, God's Holy Spirit, the Savior, Sin and the Nation of Israel... we can not eliminate the importance of the Word, the guidance of the Holy Spirit given and sealing believers, the need for a Savior, the recognition of sin and of course the realization that God is not done with Israel... the church is NOT Israel. ----------------------- 44 - SCRIPTURE - God's Word - the foundation of our faith, our ONLY source for doctrine. II Timothy 3:15-17 45 - SPIRIT - God's Holy Spirit will help us to understand His Word. John 14:16 - "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; (see also Ephesians 1:13, 4:13) 46 - SAVIOR - The Savior needed to pay the price of death for our sins. Genesis 3:14-16, Daniel 9, Isaiah, etc. 47 - SIN - It's about SIN... Christ paid the price. Romans 3:23 - for all have sinned... Romans 3:24 - ...through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus... 47 - SENT from Jerusalem - The nation of Israel is still part of God's plan. John 4:4 - ...for salvation is from the Jews.
