Hi Folks,

At last i have configured NFS and CIFS/Samba both running on HP-UX 11.00
A400 Class server and have created user share for all the users which
there are using now at present.

Following were the steps I followed, I thought would share them with you.

Configurating of NFS Server/Client
----------------------------------
- edited /etc/inetd.conf file
  - uncommented the line
    #rpc dgram udp wait root /usr/dt/bin/rpc.cmsd 100068 2-5 rpc.cmsd
- edited /etc/services file
  - uncommented the line
    #portmap 111/tcp sunrpc # SUN Remote Procedure Call
    #portmap      111/udp  sunrpc         #
- modified /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf file with these parameters
NFS_CLIENT=1
NFS_SERVER=1
NUM_NFSD=16
NUM_NFSIOD=16
PCNFS_SERVER=1
START_MOUNTD=1

- created /etc/exports file and added the share
/users/dane -anon=109
/users/rave -anon=65534
/users/knowledgebase -anon=65534
/users/Documents -anon=65534
/users/common -anon=65534

- issued exportfs -a
- issued /sbin/init.d/nfs.core start
- issued /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start
- created users for accessing the share name
- Installed Reflection NFS connection on W2K/Win98 machines
- restarted the machine, dialog box appears for NFS connection
  - enter user name/password/machine name
- mapped users to U: share

Configurating of CIFS/Samba
---------------------------
- edited /etc/rc.config.d/samba file
  - changed RUN_SAMBA=0 to 1
- edited /etc/inetd.conf file
  - uncommented the line
    #swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat
- edited /etc/services file
  - uncommented the line
    #swat 	901/tcp 	# SAMBA Web-based Admin Tool
- ran /sbin/init.f/inetd stop
- ran /sbin/init.f/inetd start (to make the changes into effect)
- ran /opt/samba/bin/samba_setup program to configure samba server for
  sharing directory (using CIFS)
- ran /sbin/init.d/samba start
- using /opt/netscape/netscape web browser http://localhost:901/. created
  user share
- modified the local security policy in W2K machines
  - Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy
  - Local Policies/Security Options
  - Send unencrypted password to connect to third-party SMB servers
  - click on enabled and restart the machine.
  - verify that the effective setting has been changed to ENABLED
- modified the register using regedit in Win98 machines
  - take a backup of system.dat/user.dat/system.ini/win.ini
  - goto the following register
	- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP
	- create a new DWORD and add "EnablePlainTextPassword"
	- double click and enter 1 as the value and restart the machine
- mapped users to U: share

I hope this might help you all. If there are any other suggestion or
modification, do write back.

Cheers & Regards,
Dayanand Naik.
