Following were the steps I followed, I thought would share them with you. Configurating of NFS Server/Client ---------------------------------- - edited /etc/inetd.conf file - uncommented the line #rpc dgram udp wait root /usr/dt/bin/rpc.cmsd 100068 2-5 rpc.cmsd - edited /etc/services file - uncommented the line #portmap 111/tcp sunrpc # SUN Remote Procedure Call #portmap 111/udp sunrpc # - modified /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf file with these parameters NFS_CLIENT=1 NFS_SERVER=1 NUM_NFSD=16 NUM_NFSIOD=16 PCNFS_SERVER=1 START_MOUNTD=1 - created /etc/exports file and added the share /users/dane -anon=109 /users/rave -anon=65534 /users/knowledgebase -anon=65534 /users/Documents -anon=65534 /users/common -anon=65534 - issued exportfs -a - issued /sbin/init.d/nfs.core start - issued /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start - created users for accessing the share name - Installed Reflection NFS connection on W2K/Win98 machines - restarted the machine, dialog box appears for NFS connection - enter user name/password/machine name - mapped users to U: share Configurating of CIFS/Samba --------------------------- - edited /etc/rc.config.d/samba file - changed RUN_SAMBA=0 to 1 - edited /etc/inetd.conf file - uncommented the line #swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat - edited /etc/services file - uncommented the line #swat 901/tcp # SAMBA Web-based Admin Tool - ran /sbin/init.f/inetd stop - ran /sbin/init.f/inetd start (to make the changes into effect) - ran /opt/samba/bin/samba_setup program to configure samba server for sharing directory (using CIFS) - ran /sbin/init.d/samba start - using /opt/netscape/netscape web browser http://localhost:901/. created user share - modified the local security policy in W2K machines - Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy - Local Policies/Security Options - Send unencrypted password to connect to third-party SMB servers - click on enabled and restart the machine. - verify that the effective setting has been changed to ENABLED - modified the register using regedit in Win98 machines - take a backup of system.dat/user.dat/system.ini/win.ini - goto the following register - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP - create a new DWORD and add "EnablePlainTextPassword" - double click and enter 1 as the value and restart the machine - mapped users to U: share I hope this might help you all.
