One of the most frustrating things as a System Admin managing an HP system is to call in to have a problem resolved and the first thing out of the System Engineer's mouth is, "Do you have the latest patch?". I'm convinced that it the system had smoke rolling out the vents they'd ask that question. What is it with HP and patches? The best that most of us can guess is that since it's so hard to develop s/w on a HP that even HP can't get it right the first time. :) I've had two or three patch sets that I've had to back out because they were bad, or required a patch to fix the patch. Don't get me wrong, I like HP-UX. But I hate patches, well, almost as much as a microsoft operating system...

Discovered two patches required for my HP 9000 Series 700 workstations using the HP-UX 10.20 ACE installs.
